Successful TriOx Startup at Nucor-AuburnDate: 04/29/2005Hauck is pleased to announce a successful start-up for a collaborative effort between Nucor Steel and Alchas, Inc. and Bendotti S.p.A. engineers and furnace builders for a steel reheat pusher furnace installation with Hauck’s newest ultra low NOx burner, the TriOx. The new furnace, approximately 60 feet long by 42 feet wide by 6.5 feet high, is equipped with six zones utilizing a total of 22 TriOx burners with a combined capacity input of approximately 150 MM Btu/hr firing natural gas. The furnace includes a large recuperator designed to preheat combustion air to approximately 800ºF.
The TriOx’s unique three-staged air injection design provides maximum production efficiency while minimizing NOx emissions common with high temperature preheated air. The burner is capable of low excess air operation, typically 5% with mass flow control, throughout its entire operating range, for ultimate fuel efficiency.
